The Orbbec Femto Mega is a state-of-the-art industrial-grade iToF (indirect Time-of-Flight) 3D camera, developed through a strategic collaboration with Microsoft and NVIDIA. It represents a significant advancement in 3D vision technology, serving as a powerful successor and upgrade path for applications previously relying on the Microsoft Azure Kinect DK. The system integrates Microsoft's depth processing technology with an embedded NVIDIA Jetson Nano computing module, creating a complete, standalone 3D perception solution. This combination makes it exceptionally well-suited for demanding applications in robotics, logistics, industrial automation, and digital twin creation, where high-resolution depth data and integrated processing are critical.

The camera is equipped with a high-resolution 1-megapixel ToF depth sensor capable of operating at up to 30 frames per second. It offers a wide 120-degree diagonal field of view and can accurately measure distances from 0.25 meters to 5.5 meters. The depth sensing is complemented by a high-quality 4K RGB color camera with an HDR mode, ensuring clear color imagery even in challenging lighting conditions. A defining feature of the Femto Mega is its onboard NVIDIA Jetson Nano compute module, which enables all depth processing to occur within the camera itself, freeing the host PC from this computational load and simplifying system integration.

For connectivity, the camera offers multiple robust options, including Gigabit Ethernet with Power over Ethernet (PoE+), which allows for both data transmission and power over a single cable for distances up to 100 meters, ideal for industrial deployments. It also features USB Type-C and a DC power jack. The device includes a 6-axis IMU for motion tracking and supports precise hardware synchronization for multi-camera setups. The Femto Mega is supported by the comprehensive Orbbec SDK, which includes compatibility layers for Azure Kinect DK, facilitating easy migration of existing projects, along with native support for Windows and Linux, ROS, ROS 2, and popular libraries like OpenCV and PyTorch.
